America Enters the War
December 7, 1941-- Japan attacks the United States in a surprise bombing of Hawaii millitary facilities including Pearl Harbor.
December 8, 1941-- United States declares war on Japan and formally enters World War II.
With America's entrance into WWII came a radical shift in the economy. As the entire nation rushed to catch up, small towns like Renovo were thrust into a wartime economy where production of war goods was high in every way.
Even the smallest counties in the country began to produce men.
October 29th 1940 -- President Roosevelt begins the National Draft Lottery.
David Bedner of Renovo is the third man eligible for the draft.
Fred Melvin Yon of Renovo is the first man to volunteer to go to selective Sercive Training in all of Clinton County.
Arthur D. Pierson is the man from Renovo accepted into the US Army Air Corps from Renovo.
Even the smallest counties began to produce machines.
February 22, 1942-- Renovo milk dealers stop delivering on Sunday
March 26, 1942-- Citizens of Renovo encouraged to recycle toothpaste and shaving cream tubes at their local drug stores.
May 4-7, 1942 -- Renovo citizens made to register for a "sugar book" that would alot them the appropriate ration for a year's worth of sugar.

May 29, 1943-- "Rosie the Riveter" makes her first appearance on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post.
10% of Renovo Women join the workforce.
Martha H. Kisner joins the Navy
Helen E. Llogue joins the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps
Laruline V. Schnars joins the Coast Guard
Clara Moore joins the Marines
